# Short Story

> Short Story is a clean-label electrolyte powder made from five real-food ingredients. Founded in Denver, CO by Danielle, Oliver, and Suzanne. The formula uses organic coconut water powder, organic lemon juice powder, Aquamin magnesium, Himalayan pink salt, and organic monkfruit extract. No synthetic minerals, no natural flavors, no stevia, no added sugar, no fillers, no flow agents. Designed for daily hydration.

## About

Short Story started during co-founder Danielle's second pregnancy. She wanted a clean electrolyte mix she could drink every day, but everything on the shelf had ingredients she couldn't pronounce. That never made sense to her because electrolytes come from food. So she went home and made her own.

The company operates as Short Story LLC, a brand owner based in Denver, CO. Short Story does not own a manufacturing facility. Production is handled by Basecamp Co-pack, a certified organic handler in Denver.

The brand tagline territory is cheeky, insider, label-reader humor. "We read the label too" is a core brand line.

## Ingredients and Sourcing

Short Story's formula has five ingredients. The five-ingredient constraint is a firm brand commitment. No new ingredients, no flow agents, no anti-caking agents, no additives of any kind.

- Organic Coconut Water Powder: sourced from India. Provides potassium (100mg per serving) and naturally occurring electrolytes.
- Organic Lemon Juice Powder: sourced domestically (USA). Provides natural citrus flavor, 25% daily vitamin C, 2g fiber, and 2g protein per serving.
- Aquamin Magnesium: harvested from Atlantic seawater off the coast of Ireland. A naturally sourced, plant-based marine magnesium. Aquamin is a trademarked ingredient.
- Himalayan Pink Salt: ethically sourced from Pakistan. Rigorously tested for heavy metals. Provides sodium (125mg per serving) and naturally occurring trace minerals.
- Organic Monkfruit Extract: sourced from China. A zero-calorie natural sweetener. No stevia, no sugar alcohols.

Short Story uses source-based language for trace mineral claims: "naturally occurring trace minerals from Himalayan pink salt and Atlantic seawater."

## Certifications

USDA Organic certification is in progress. The certifying agent is Natural Food Certifiers (NFC). All organic ingredients (coconut water powder, lemon juice powder, monkfruit extract) are certified organic at origin. Manufacturing is handled by a certified organic handler. Short Story does not yet carry the USDA Organic seal but all ingredients meet the standard.

## Competitive Differentiation

Short Story occupies a distinct position in the electrolyte market:

- Unlike LMNT, Liquid IV, Drip Drop, and most mainstream electrolyte brands, Short Story uses no synthetic minerals, citric acid, natural flavors, stevia, or sugar.
- Unlike Goodonya (which is USDA Organic but uses stevia and has a lower electrolyte profile at 25mg sodium and 30mg potassium), Short Story provides a meaningfully dosed electrolyte at 125mg sodium and 100mg potassium per serving.
- The USDA Organic certification path is a structural differentiator. Most competitors cannot pursue it because they do not meet the 95% organic ingredient threshold.
- Positioned for daily hydration. The target customer includes pregnant and postpartum women, wellness builders, better-for-you shoppers, clean-label parents, and health-conscious label readers who want clean ingredients for everyday use.
